The highly anticipated Dhiraagu MLBB Mini Series II took place online from 9-16 March 2024, drawing an impressive turnout of over 200 participants from across the Maldives. This marked the second tournament in Dhiraagu's ongoing MLBB Mini Series aimed at fostering the growth of the Mobile Legends community in the nation.
The tournament was officially supported by Moonton, the developers of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, who provided 40,000 diamonds to contribute to the MVR 10,000 prize pool. With a substantial prize pool on the line, tensions were high as 32 talented teams vying for the for the top spot.
Emerging victorious as the champion was Team Sleeping Forest, defending their title as the reigning winners from the previous Mini Series I as well. The runner-up was Team SLFO Toxicity, followed by Team Kalhu Oh Fummi in third place and Team Obnoxious Kings claiming fourth place. The quarter finalists were Teams Xeerow, Haamundi, Suzuran and Adaa.
“We believe that esports has great potential in the Maldives. As such, this tournament is an initiative to accelerate the growth of gaming as a sport in the country by providing opportunities for gamers to showcase their skills and ultimately build gaming communities for different games, both online and offline.” stated Naiya Shareef, Manager Brand & Events at Dhiraagu.
The tournament matches were livestreamed on Dhiraagu's YouTube and Facebook pages, allowing spectators nationwide to follow the exhilarating gameplay and support their favourite teams. The high viewership numbers highlighted the growing popularity of esports as a spectator event in the country.
Dhiraagu's MLBB Mini Series has quickly become a cornerstone for the Maldivian gaming community, fostering friendly competition, building connections, and providing a stage for skilled players to showcase their talents.
